Audio Copying, Encoding and Transfer

A record label’s catalogue is arguably its most valuable asset and the transfer, preservation and restoration of material needs to be undertaken by skilled engineers, who have access to the right technical equipment. Abbey Road has many years experience in providing services in this area and the resources to ensure projects are always carried out effectively, no matter how big or small.

Copying and Transfer

Working with production masters that span the entire history of recording, as well as with new release masters, Abbey Road’s transfer suites are equipped to produce both analogue and digital copies to and from the widest possible range of formats. Typical projects we undertake include, bulk CD and DVD replication, quality control and verification of album masters, file conversions, analogue tape re-splicing & tape baking and the preservation of assets for archiving purposes.

Encoding

We offer digital audio encoding from virtually any tape format or file to varied specifications, including broadcast quality and mobile network requirements. We are able to deliver physical or digital assets to our clients or distribution channels such as iTunes.

Insights

“I come back to Abbey Road time and time again for the special sound that recording in studio one brings to my scores, and therefore to the films that I work on. Standing in front of an orchestra in studio one as they play dynamically and expressively and appreciating that sound is one thing, walking back in to the control room and hearing those same qualities captured as a recording is quite another. It happens here - Abbey Road for ever! ”
